Answer five questions to see whether a small mold job is reasonable to do yourself or is better left to a remediation crew. This tool follows the EPA mold guidance, which suggests calling a professional for mold larger than about 10 square feet. Built for Sanibel homeowners across the Lee County area.
Consider these five factors
How large is the affected area?
Ten square feet approximates a three foot by three foot area.
What kind of water is or was involved?
Could the HVAC or ductwork be involved?
Does anyone in the home have asthma, allergies, or a weakened immune system?
Might the mold be hidden or larger than it looks?
